Did you know? Jo Sanja acrylics are loved by aboriginal artists because of their fluidity.
Jo Sonja’s acrylics are made in Australia by Chroma, alongside their other acrylic paint ranges, Chromacryl (Student Paint), A2 (Student Paint with light fastness) and Atelier (artist quality).
Jo Sonja’s when it first hit the art supplies market was unfortunately miss represented by a lot of people as a craft paint. This was in the time when Decoupage and Folk Art was all the rage, not to mention they sold out to Spot Light and didn’t invest to much into art supply stores which gave them even more of a crafters image. Now I am not saying you can’t use Jo Sonjas for crafting projects, it is actually a great multi surface paint. But what I am saying is that it really is artist quality and it has all the properties of one.
This acrylic paint artist quality has a great colour selection, actually there are 80 colours in the range and they start at a series one and go up to a series three. The colours range from opaque, transparent and semi transparent and are a beautiful buttery type of consistency that will give superb coverage with a matte finish. It is commonly available in 75ml tubes however 250ml bottles do exist but usually are ordered in on special requests. I can guarantee you will love the variety of colours and you will never have to worry about difficult clean ups with this exceptional paint as they are water based allowing you to simply clean your brushes and other equipment with just soap and water.
The range also includes a wide variety of different mediums, these are actually fantastic and super easy to use. There is a medium to make the acrylic fabric paint, there is a medium to make this paint a glass and tile paint and this is just touching on a few. You can paint on paper, wood, fabric, terracotta, glass, tin, tile, and so much more. There are also mediums that don’t just focus on the surface your painting on, flow medium is great for watercolour type effects and retarder will allow you to work with the paint longer than usual before it dries.
It is a nontoxic, acrylic paint for artists that sits very reasonably in a great price bracket compared to other artist acrylics. It can be used alongside other artist acrylic without a problem. In a nutshell it is artist quality acrylic paint that is great for even, flat coverage. It is popular amongst aboriginal artists because of its fluidity and I know of some very well known artists that have been using it for years.
We Love: That Jo Sonja Artists' acrylics are Australian made.
